What is a typical teaching load for a Baskin Engineering faculty member?

New assistant professors usually teach two courses in their first year, one being a graduate course in their research area. Most other faculty teach three courses a year, with reductions sometimes granted for extensive service, and course buyouts. The campus and School also have several grant programs for new and continuing faculty to reduce teaching load in preparation for tenure or for the creation of new courses.
